K.P. Helps Welcome The Sacred Heart University Class of 2018

Labor Day is upon us, with summer winding down and vacations a joyous memory, it must mean only one thing; “It’s Back To School!”

For the past four years, K.P. Events Group and Sacred Heart University have nurtured a working relationship that has seen K.P. support a number of the University’s events, such as their graduations, gala balls, the inauguration of their graduate center and the annual New Student Convocation, as they did again this week, August 27, 2014. This was the fourth year in a row that K.P.’s services were employed for this special ceremonial event.

More than 2000 people assembled in the William H. Pitt Health and Research Center on the University’s campus in Fairfield, Connecticut to witness the orientation and welcoming program for 1410 new, first-year students. The Class of 2018 was formally greeted by University Brass; they heard inspirational speeches, and was treated to a musical interlude by the School’s Combined Choir. This year’s guest speaker was The Honorable Dannel P. Malloy, Governor of Connecticut.

As a special tribute, this year’s convocation was dedicated to the memory of Kaitlyn Doorhy, a member of the class of 2016 who lost her life tragically last week. Her Kappa Delta sorority sisters sat in unison and joined the rest of the audience in a moment of silence. All of the speakers including University president, Dr. John J. Petillo and Governor Malloy were adamant in their tributes and accolades for Ms. Doorhy.

K.P. Events Group was up for the challenge as we usually are and provided the specially designed audio system and truss. JBL and DAS speaker systems were utilized to accommodate the combination of wireless Shure podium mics and the CM800 wired microphones for the choir. Our technical prowess was certainly put to the test in the spacious venue holding the large audience.

K.P. As a new school year begins, we hope to continue to support the Sacred Heart for many years to come. It’s always heartwarming to see the passage of time in the faces of the youth of academia, “Now Get Back To School!”
